If you see this error similar to this, it's probably because you are not using the Arduino IDE designed to work with the Intel Edison:
Try downloading the correct Arduino IDE. The link to the Arduino IDE for the Edison has changed on Intel's site. You can find the downloads here => https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24357/Intel-Edison-software-package-1-0-4 and https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/arduino-ide-v160-for-intel-galileo-and-intel-edison-boards

Probably a noob mistake, and I found the solution pretty quickly on the Intel forums: If you get a compile error in the arduino IDE when you try to load your first program from a Windows system, make sure you've installed the arduino IDE on a filepath without spaces. I just unzipped mine to C:\ and everything cleared up.
It's x86_64 Atom!!! Please, fix your text.
The links on the images for the Edison Breakout and the Edison Mini Breakout are backwards.
All fixed. Thanks for the heads up!
