Make sure to check out the other examples that are listed in the SparkFun TPA2016D2 Arduino Library to detect faults (i.e. shorts on the speaker channels or excessive heat), control limiter, and/or control the automatic gain control (AGC).
⚡ Danger: Caution is advised when testing and reading the short circuit fault. DO NOT connect speakers leads while sound is playing through speaker. This should only be used to detect shorts on speaker lines BEFORE actually turning on your source.
While there is short circuit protection, we recommend removing power when connecting the boards and components together. We still managed to blow out the IC by shorting the speaker output terminals during our stress tests.
