My unit is reading around 2.5 - 3.0g on the Z Axis at rest, from what I've read I was expecting this to be reading around 1g at rest. Anyone have similar or know why?

I'm seeing same thing as in others comments. The data reading changes with different orientations. In general, g is around 2-.25 in all orientations except for z facing down where it is around 0.7. I'll try posting in the forums.

Greetings - I have this working and the x and y axes read as expected depending on the orientation. The z axis reads 2g when resting flat, 0g when upside down, and 1g when resting on any of the x or y sides. In other words, the z axis always read 1g too high. Is this a common problem? Do I not understand how this is supposed to work, or, have I damaged it, or, is the part defective? Thank you for your time

Could you explain what this H3LIS331DL parameter actually does:

setIntThreshold(threshold, intSource) - threshold is the absolute magnitude above or below which an interrupt will occur, divided by 16. It can range from 0-127. It can range from 0-127. intSource is 1 or 2. I understand the intSource but can't figure out what the threshold is used for and what it should be set at?

Has anyone gotten this to work?

We have a lot of experiences with other Accelerometers, but this one is being a bugger. We used EXACTLY this setup and code and do not see the expected results:

Set on table: Z=-1, X=Y=0 Set on side: x=-1, z=y=0 set on other side: y=-1, x=y=0

    We are NOT seeing this.

    • The engineer and creative technologist has tested the H3LIS331DL before and gotten it to work. I have not personally tested this accelerometer so I do not know what to expect with the data values. Are you using SPI and I2C on the sensor? Also, can you talk about your setup more? What Arduino development board are you using and did you solder directly to the pins with wires or did you use headers?

If you have not already, we do have a troubleshooting tips tutorial and a technical support team if you need technical assistance with the breakout board => https://www.sparkfun.com/technical_assistance .

What are you seeing? Do you see data changing with the orientation of the accelerometer?
