There is a different bootloader on the BadgerSticks. If you are having issues uploading code using this new tutorial with your BadgerStick after a certain point after Sept 2015, I recommend looking at the older tutorial for the old board definitions => https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/badgerhack---retired/all#hack-your-badge.
Otherwise, you will need to burn the new bootloader https://github.com/sparkfun/BadgerStick/tree/master/badgerstick/avr/bootloaders using an AVR programmer to the BadgerStick's Atmega328P and install the new board definitions https://github.com/sparkfun/BadgerStick/blob/master/badgerstick/avr/boards.txt.
