Microcontrollers for Educators
Sparkfun Electronics is pleased to announce our Microcontrollers for Educators class. We’ll teach the basics of electronics, electricity, circuits, and programming using a variety of tools and products from the SparkFun catalog.
We will begin by introducing teachers to computer programming using the Processing language to create drawings, shapes, and animations with simple lines of code. In addition to focusing on key content, we will also provide time to reflect on pedagogy, classroom management, and pacing of material.
Using the SparkFun Inventor’s Kit, we will provide a well rounded view of circuits, electronics, and microcontrollers. We will show opportunities for projects, example work from other classes, and resources available to expand this learning into your own classroom.
To reach out to other audiences in your class, we will dedicate an entire day to working with our Lilypad e-textiles, conductive thread, and sewing projects that cross the traditional boundaries of crafts and technology. We have found these projects to be rich with opportunities for engagement and excitement around building and programming.
This class is designed to give a basic foundation to start working with students in the context of programming and engineering. We have run through this class with a wide range of educators from K - 12 and beyond. All are welcome and encouraged to come to join us.
If you have specific project based materials you’d like to bring, by all means do so, and we’ll do our best to try and help you get it into your classroom.
This class will tentatively be live streamed for those of you who cannot attend! This is a free service.
